Curling up with a few good books the ultimate past time when it’s cold outside. With the chilly winds blowing, we already have our reading list jam packed and ready for the rest of this winter season. To jumpstart the year on the right foot, our list is filled with inspiring books to help motivate us throughout the year.
Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear
by Elizabeth Gilbert
This compelling book is an instructional manual discussing how to live a creative life. The author of Eat, Pray, Love encourages her readers to uncover the “strange jewels” within all of us in this inspirational book. This is a good reminder to pursue passions and let go of needless fear. We couldn’t think of a better way to start 2017.
Tuesdays With Morrie
by Mitch Albom
This is a fan favorite. The story is about a man spending time with his ailing professor and mentor and tending to him as he dies. This inspiring novel has a new life perspective to offer with every read. Take the time to really dig deep into this book and find a new lesson to carry with you throughout the year.
52 Lists for Happiness
by Moorea Seal
Like “Big Magic”, this is another follow up book for writer (and fellow boutique-owner) Moorea Seal. After the raging success of “The 52 List Project”, she has given us another book of blessed good vibes. Based off of her own personal philosophy and happiness research, this is a structured (but fun) manual on how to live a happier life. Encourage others by sharing your journey with #52HappyLists on social media. This book is also an Oprah fave, so you can’t go wrong!
I Know This Much Is True
by Wally Lamb
This novel is a tearjerker so buckle up. The plot is centered around two brothers; one brother struggles with a recent separation from his wife and the other suffers from severe schizophrenia. The themes in this book center around family dynamics and mental health. Readers can be very almost anyone in the world can understand or connect with the unfolding story this story offers the audience. With memorable passages on almost every page you will come out of the final page a better and highly inspired person.
by Tina Fey
Since the last novel was a bit emotional we thought we’d offer something comedic to balance out. This comedian turned actress turned writer has had a prolific career in the industry and her autobiography Bossypants discusses her journey with her witty voice and attitude that clearly got her to where she is today. From her anecdotes of working at the YMCA in her twenties to her experiences on cruise ships, you can hear her voice come off the page. The Philadelphia Native doesn’t fail to impress in this hysterical memoir.
Grab these inspiring books from your local library or your favorite bookstore. Let these good reads motivate you to live the best life you can. Take the time to get lost in other worlds. That is what literature is all about.
